Vestiges

From Vanathul Wiki

Vestiges are also known as spirits, and the two terms are treated as synonymous in the context of pact binding.

Vestiges are not deities, but share some similarities in so far that they grant mortals powers. Their origins vary greatly. From myths heavy in symbolism that manifest as entities of their own, to mortals who live on through their legacy. Meaning that some were once alive, and others are manifested by a collective conception.

Vestiges range from 1st level to 9th level and all offer pact binders a wide range of different powers. One of the most fatal mistakes a novice binder may make is to assume that low level vestiges are not powerful. The truth is more complex. A vestige’s level merely reflects how readily available the knowledge is of that vestige, how complicated its seal and ceremonial rituals are, and similar factors.

Availability and aquisition

The following entries are to some degree available to pact magic practicioners. Learning about a vestige, and to be able to bind it, requires research. Such research usually requre knowledge of the arcane, religion, history and the planes.

Leads that aids in the research process can be found in old tomes, engraved in the altar of ruins, mentioned in obscure nursery rhymes, or some other such sources.

The process is not complicated, but i have omitted the exact steps for brevity. They can be found in the source book, and will be added here if wanted.
