The Empty City of Zonn

From Vanathul Wiki

It is an eery place I would prefer to never visit again. It may hold many secrets, but they can't possibly be worth it. Notes from unknown planar explorer

Description

A seemingly endless city of simple houses in an at times chaotic pattern. The interiors are simply furnished, with tables, chairs, beds, but with no notable content in cabinets or cupboards.

About

Exploring the city in groups is considered safe, and while doing so there seem to be no apparent danger. If, however, an individual wanders off, or for some reason gets left behind by the expedition, they are very likely to never be seen or heard from again. No reason for why people disappear when alone have been identified.

Faint music with no identifiable source can be heard in the distance from time to time. This may be related to the disapperances, but It is thought best to not pursue it. No group who have returned have ever tried to approach it, and at least one party declaring their intention to do so did not return.

Properties

Bordering

The Empty City of Zonn border upon, and is anchored to The Ethereal Plane, meaning that those with the ability to do so may travel to it using plane shift or similar similar effects that rely on the Ethereal plane for traversal. Normal restrictions apply.

Probing suggests that The City extends partially into the Deep Ethereal. At this point the structure of the City breaks down, resulting in impossible structures and other anomalies where the order of "reality", such as it is, breaks down. Here a number of creatures leak over from the ethereal, and the plane itself changes its morphic properties slightly.

History

  • Created by Tazigrem Zonn in 822 a.l. as a demonstration of using scrying during demiplane creation, copying a section of the material plane into a semi-regularly repeating pattern.
