Elves

History

The elves were made by the Outward Facing God Yarec when the deities enacted their acts of creation on Vanathul. They were made to tend to the planet while the environment was being made ready for humanity.

This has understandably led many elves to have a bitter sentiment towards humans, as they in part feel they were made only as a tools, or servants, with no other purpose. The emergence of the Lords and Ladies was a sort of rebellion against this, giving the elves agency. This did however not grant them the full freedom they would have liked, as they in essence just traded one master for another.

Some theologically minded anthropologists postulate that Yarec may not have intended to give the beings he created sentience, and that this property emerged spontaneously. A development that may have spared them from oblivion after their duty to the planet was completed. Instead Yarec sacrificed a piece of himself to give them a separate home in the Fey Wilds.

Subtypes

Like many other races, elves come in different variations with varying attributes and traits. They usually live separate from the other types, causing equally different societies and cultures.

Veil elves

Their name coming from their place of residence, the Veil Elves have strong ties to the Fey and the Lords and Ladies, living parts of their lives in the Fey Wilds. They rarely leave the shelter of their woods. Rumours speak of larger figures among them, but nothing concrete has ever been proven by outsiders one way or the other.

Veil Elves live on Orn in the Verdant Veil.

Sysaerean Glade elves

Free elves of K'Shaal. Untainted by external control or influences from fey courts or other extraplanar forces.

These elves have a stronger tie to humanity on K'Shaal, and the two races have trade deals that are mutually advantageous.

Despite their friendly view of each other, the two mostly keep to themselves as their differences life spans often produce pity, envy, sorrow an in some cases arrogance.

Aquatic elves

Elven subspecies adapted to life near and in water and oceans. Mainly located along the temperate coastline of K'Shaal.

Deep elves

Obsidian black skin, snow white hair, and purple eyes are the defining characteristics of the Deep Elves. They live deep underground in large cavern cities, away from the fey courts of the surface world.

Finding a deep elf, or drow, on the surface is exceedingly rare, and what is known about them come largely as second hand tales told by dwarves.
