Description
Red/copper colored hair is a trait that has its origin in the Wahlminster region. Their skin is often pale, with a predisposition to get freckles when exposed to sunlight
Distribution
In the centuries since the fall of Old Orn this phenotype has spread widely, and can to some degree be found in all Ornian nations. Mostly in Mendaris, and rarely on the Thundertop.
Unique racial traits
Inner Embers
Humans with an ancestry from the Ashen Empire may have an affinity for fire magic, gaining the use of the Produce Flame cantrip a number of times per bell equal to 3 + charisma modifier (minimum 1).
Additionally a human with the Inner Embers racial traits gain a +1 racial bonus to the DC of any spell with the fire subtype.
Inner Embers replace the bonus feat racial trait.
Magical talents
Some humans with the Wahlminster phenotype have a potential predisposition for magic. This a latent ability that needs to kindled carefully. Reckless delving without guidance risks smothering it, or in some cases flaring it, causing it to either figuratively burn out, or quite literally combust the human.
This need for guidance became a burden during the oppression from the Mistwreath, when the Ashen Empire fell, and the culture experienced severe degradation.
The guidance was traditionally given by a grandparent, who had time, patient, and wisdom enough to develop their grasp on this magical trait. But having their culture suppressed by an invading culture meant this guidance dwindled.
