About
Oswyn the Blind bore a demon’s curse as he traveled through the mist, offering healing to those in need.
He desired to cure his younger brother of his blindness. When alchemy failed him, and no deity would answer, he turned to darker forces in his yearning to restore his brother's sight.
His pleas were finally answered, but inflicted his soul with a curse. To be damned upon his death, forever to wander the mists among the other restless.
Despite this fate, he did not relent in his mission, and continued to wander - seeking out wounded and afflicted people, offering to heal them to the best of his abilities, wanting nothing in return but a simple meal and a place to rest for a bit.
This was all centuries in the past. What happned to him is not known, and no body was ever found. But from time to time people report encounters with a stranger when the mist is particularly thick, wearing simple clothes and a blindfold, offering his services as a healer. No payment is accepted, and even if his offer is rejected, any aches or pains are said to have lessened, at least partially.
Canonization
In a contentious decisions, Oswyn was canonized after a retinue of monks encountered the enigmatic blindfolded figure while on a pilgrimage.
Many of their party were afflicted with wounds, pains, or other ailments after a long time on the road, and when the figure offered to treat them, some of them accepted. An inquisitive monk among them wished to scrutinize the man, and analyze the manner of magics the stranger clearly employed.
The record does not recount a description of what he saw, but after prompting his fellows to follow his example, the fact that this was no normal man became clear.
After years of appeals by the party of monks to have Oswyn recognized as a saint, the sufficiently ranked Mistfaith clergy ascented, and Oswyn was canonized.
