About Order of the Skull

The Order of the Skull is a secret society of rich and influential people who have an interest in death and undeath that goes beyond the academic. There is also a political aspect to the organization, steering inquiry away from itself, and to align with their goals when possible.

• The organization does not exist. Some believe it does, but they are gullible fantasists wanting to blame a series of unrelated coincidences on some shadowy organization.

• If it does exist, the Reanimator alchemists are probably among the members of the order. They are said to experiment with undeath for their own gains and that of their patrons.

• Initiation is done through aquaintences and grooming by mentors recruiting promising pupils.
• There are ranks within the order, each with their own requirements and initiations. Each more deprived than the last, if rumors are to be believed.
• A series of political and mercantile leaders are thought to have been assassinated on behalf of the Order.
• Their goal is the usual power and influence without being accountable or elected.
• A parallel ladder of influence within the order is one of clerics and alchemists. They adher to some dark and insidious deity, and gain a more concrete power than that of their non-combattant peers.

• The order has manifested a sort og egregor in their efforts to blackmail each other into serving the organization. A metaphorical deity that acts indirectly through its many adherents.
