About

Dead wizard/arcanist found in the wellspring compound arrival hall on the Triumph-side of an interplanar portal.

Carried a journal and spellbook describing his observations and thoughts during the last bells of his life. The journal is written in a language resembling Old K'Shaali, but with several semantic differences. Linguists have classified this new language as Reformed K'Shaali.

Journal

The book contains a mixture of seemingly random scribbles and notes in some unknown language. After thurough translation the following can be extracted from his final bells.

I have arrived in what I believe is called the Wellspring Compound. I had a limited time in the actual compound itself before my pursuers caught up with me. I believe I have lost them for now, but can only assume they will find me eventually.

This portal seems inactive, but if I am to have any chance of eluding my would be captors for good, it is imperative that I reactivate it.

My pursuers have left, but I fear it was not solely due to them not finding me. Master Lucius told me of other dangers lurking in this space.

The work on reactivating the portal continues.

The last of my rations have run out and I must attempt to cast the spell I have worked on these last bells. It is by no means refined, but I am out of time. I only hope I can withstand any unforeseen backlash.

I think I will reinforce it with the black chain invocation, and a blood sigil, but for now I must rest.

Spells in spellbook

The journal contains several spells that have been identified:

1st - Memory Lapse, Magic Weapon, Shield, Magic Aura, Vocal Alteration, Keep Watch

2nd - Hidden Presence, Fog Cloud, Share Language, Greater Detect Magic

3rd - Daylight - Golden Guise, Black Sword Of War, Threefold Sight

4th - Warp Metal, Lesser Globe of Invulnerability, Fleeting Memory, Enchantment Foil

5th - Burn Corruption, Telekinesis, Life Bubble

Other notes

In addition to his spellbook and journal, a series of letters and documents were found in his belongings. They described his homeland of K'Shaal. A simple and incomplete map with notes on factions and contemporary relations was included.
