Barholm Reserve

From Vanathul Wiki

Price

15 gp (mundane), 65 gp (blessed)

Description

A wine made from grapes grown at an abbey on Barholm.

It is a dark red wine, with spicy undertones. It goes well with most red meat, but can equally be enjoyed on its own.

Barholm Blessed Reserve

Not unlike the normal Barholm Reserve in taste, but comes at an increased price.

Legend

As with all good wines, this one also comes with a legend. It is said that Barholm was once haunted by the ghost of some unlucky sailor. This ghost attacked some of the monks of the abbey. They fought him with prayers, and attempted to excorsise him, but with no luck.

One monk, when alone in the cellar was yet again confronted by the ghost, and when grasping for his bottle of holy water, he discovered he had left it in his chamber. Desperate, he grabbed the closest liquid he could find, a bottle of wine, which he blessed to the best of his ability. When he proceeded to splash the ghost with the wine, it was rebuked, never to be seen again.

Every harvest, a batch of the otherwise normal Barholm Reserve is set aside to be blessed. This variant is then made available gradually throughout the year, and sold to those willing to spend the gold for it.
