About the Setting

The world is an eternal balance between day and night. The sun is more or less stationary in the sky, at an angle that leaves the livable areas in a perpetual near twilight, dipping and rising lazily throughout the year. This is all perfectly normal, the way it has always been, and explained on the astronomy page if you would like to know more about tidal locking.

The planet itself was, according to recovered old records named CUR-85b, but in recent eras it has had several other names, like "Twilight", "The Green Band", "Mund", "Vanathul", "Balance", or some other names reflecting the unusual astronomical feature feature.

The continent on Vanathul you call home is probably Orn, and it houses several human nations of various importance and power. From where on Orn you originate is up to you, but most regions and nations come with some cultural baggage that will aid or hinder some character-builds. You should read up on what is written about the different regions to get an overview. Though the nations are primarily human, there are some other races and sub-races throughout the lands. Some of these are playable, and others are not. Check out the races page for further information about them.

The Orn page also contains a quick introduction to the history, magic and technology of the major cultures of the continent.

Semantic alterations and clarifications

Time

Due to the unusual astronomical situation, the wording in many abilities and items which reference time in terms of "day" must be revised. A day in this context is interpreted as 24 hours in most cases, and in some cases between "long rests".

See the calendar and timekeeping page for the in-game vernacular commonly used to describe time. You may also like to see the calendar page for a description of the year and the common calendar used my most Ornian inhabitants.

Directions

The directions page is also useful to understand the replacement terms for north, south, east, and west, as these may be misleading and confusing if used conventionally. In short, from an Ornian perspective, right when facing the sun is "leadwards", and left is "trailwards".
