History
She started her life as the daughter of a relatively unimportant nobleman in the then city state of Ebentorp. Little is known beyond this, and her earliest years are obscured by time and irrelevance.
Her village was attacked by raiders she fled to the Donargipfel to hide. Fleeing as the rest of her family were murdered. She climbed the mountain fueled by grief, fear and anger alike, not having a real goal but getting away from the attackers.
What happened to her on the mountain is unclear and likely exagerated or shrouded in symbolism and subjective interpretations, but the result was an ability to harness lightning. Calling it down, and directing it at a desired target. Some say she was favored by Oztoth, and given his blessing. Others say the trauma she experienced unlocked something in her - a trace of magic from the golden age. No matter what the source is, the gift is inheritable, and all her children, and their children has had magical talents.
She was responsible for the Thundering Crusade which unified the city states of the Thundertop i to Brienyamar, the nation that bears her name.
Royal Stormborn Bloodline
Many true descendants of Queen Brien, present the Queen's Gift, which grants the following abilities:
Benefits
Whenever one of the Stormborn bloodline cast a spell with the [electricity] or [sonic] descriptor, increase the save DC by 1.
Thunderstrike (Sp): At 1st level, they can touch a weapon as a standard action, giving it the shock property for a number of rounds equal to 1/2 their character level (minimum 1). At 9th level, they can confer the shocking burst property instead, but the duration of the power is then halved. They can use this ability a number of times per bell equal to 3 + their Charisma modifier.
Thunderbolt (Sp): At 9th level, they can command a stroke of lightning to strike from above in a 5-foot-radius cylinder 60 feet high. The thunderbolt inflicts 1d6 points of damage per character level; half of this damage is electricity and half is sonic. A Reflex save (DC 10 + 1/2 character level + their charisma modifier) halves this damage. Creatures failing their saves are deafened for 1 round. At 9th level, they can use this ability once per bell, at 17th twice per bell, and at 20th three times per bell. This power has a range of 120 feet.
This innate bloodline ability does not stack with the Stormborn sorcerer bloodline
Drawback
It is however not a gift without a cost, and there is a chance that any children sired or born by a Stormborn carry mutations.
These mutations may be apparent from birth, or manifest as they near their puberty. When this happens it is expected that the mutant be either killed, or banished after castration, sentenced to live out their lives in the Desolation.
Family
She had several children, all with the magical powers of lightning manipulation. Her first child was born when she was only 17. It was a difficult birth, but both the mother and child sirvived.
The father of her firstborn was the king of Wartburg, the then most fortified city of the entire plateau. Before the child was born they married, making the child ligitimate in the eyes of the people.
From that first birth, and her subsequent children, close to between 7 and 9 generations have been born. And many nobles proclaim they are descendants of her bloodline, even if they can not prove their claim with even a cantrip.
