The Continent of Abora

From Vanathul Wiki

(Redirected from Abora)

About

Abora is a large continent. Stretching from the night up deep into day. Any description made by explorers may seem like sweeping descriptions for the whole continent, but the sheer size of even just the charted coastline makes such descriptions rough generalizations.

That is to say, Abora is a great canvas where only a rough outline has been made

Temperate region

One of several ruins found along the trailing coast of the temperate forests on Abora

Explorers return with tales of dense jungle, monsters, and a population of hostile savage humanoids.

Impressive ruins of large overgrown stone structures hints at there being a rich past to the continent that are not mentioned in the historical records. Explorers postulate that these are from around the same age as when the K'Shaal empire set out to expand across it's continental neighbors, but the iconography and architecture are strikingly different. This suggests other actors were involved in their construction, but no definitive race or civilization has been identified due to the lack of statues or other documentation.

Nightwards regions

Nightwards the climate becomes less hospitable, as expected. Forests are less dense, giving way to taiga, and eventually the expected tundra.

Notable Features

Clusters of floating rocks are features that may be found in and around the taiga region of Abora

Initially disbelieved explorers reported floating rocks among vast mountain regions.

Cities

Mendarian settlers have been traveling to Abora for around three decades now, and several settlements have been established. These are supplied with trade goods by Mendaris both as donations, investments, or in return for exported resources.

Along the coast of the temperate zone, the initial waves of settlers discovered several ruins. Among these are those of an old city named Tarsis (or that is the assumption from translated carvings found on location). These ruins have been cleared out and settled.

Fey presence

What passes for fey on Abora are reported to be more like spirit beasts, small pixie-like figures, and other animistic phenomenons. It is supposed that the long absence of either humanity or elves have caused the fey to take on another expression than that usually found on other inhabited continents.
