Astronomy
The sun turns, and starts rising. For most this is a reprieve from the colder season, and a promise of warmer weather to come. The air temperature rises, but the ground is still colder.
Mistfaith
In the Mistfaith this is a time for light, and festivals where clergy and other celebrants light lanterns, and burn bonfires. This custom has stuck with most cultures that emigrated from the Mistwreath, and even those who do not observe the faith still often revel in the lighting some extra candles to keep the dark out.
